PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference kicked off NCAA Division III Week on Monday by announcing its 2011-2012 Fall and Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams.

At the end of each sport's season of competition, student-athletes vote for their team's representative for the conference's All-Sportsmanship Team. The honor is open to members of every team in an AMCC championship sport.

To be recognized, the student-athlete nominated from each team must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect, and fair play in both practice and competition. The student-athlete must also serve as a positive representative of school spirit at other teams' sporting events.

The 11 Penn State Altoona student-athletes who were voted to the Fall and Winter All-Sportsmanship Team are:

-Women's Volleyball: Marina Cotarelo (North Salem, NY/John F.Kennedy)

-Men's Golf: Landon Hollenshead (Mercersburg, PA/James Buchanan)

-Women's Cross Country: Kristen Cummings (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood)

-Men's Cross Country: Will Aldridge (Corapolis, PA/Moon Area)

-Women's Soccer: Brindy Feese (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy)

-Men's Soccer: Zachary Yoas (South Williamsport, PA/South Williamsport)

-Women's Tennis: Katelyn Piper (Roaring Spring, PA/Martinsburg Central)

-Women's Swimming & Diving: Mary Elizabeth McCulloch (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle)

-Men's Swimming & Diving: Jay Wareham (Leesburg, VA/Loudon County)

Women's Volleyball Loses to #4 Eastern in NCAA Regionals

ASTON, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament on Friday night, losing to #4 Eastern University at the Mirenda Center at Neumann University.

The Eagles won in straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-12.

Kelsie Bumbarger (Altoona, PA/Altoona) had 16 set assists and six digs, while teammate Sam Link (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria) had eight kills and nine digs.

Paige Hensor (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) added seven digs, and Robin Tabaka (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) had three total blocks.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The conference champion Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team was honored with several individual awards on Tuesday when the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released its 2011 All-Conference Team.

Head coach Phil Peterman won the AMCC's Coach of the Year award. In his fourth year, Peterman guided the Lady Lions to their second-ever conference championship this past weekend. The squad was 9-0 in the conference this season, the first time in program history that the team has gone undefeated in the AMCC.

Meanwhile, freshman middle hitter Robin Tabaka (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) was named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year in women's volleyball. Tabaka ranked sixth in the conference in blocks with 60 and seventh in hitting percentage with .226. Tabaka was also named to the third team of the All-Conference squad.

Taking first team honors were senior setter Kelsie Bumbarger (Altoona, PA/Altoona) and senior outside hitter Sam Link (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria).

Bumbarger was second in the AMCC in set assists this season, averaging 8.43 per set. Earlier this season, she broke Penn State Altoona's school record for all-time set assists.

Link, who was also a first team All-Conference pick last season, was third in the AMCC in kills with 3.44 per set and ninth in digs with 3.69 per set. She also ranked ninth in hitting percentage at .221.

In addition to Tabaka, sophomore libero Paige Hensor (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) earned third team status. Hensor was fifth in the AMCC in digs, averaging 4.80 per set.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Altoona's senior setter Kelsie Bumbarger (Altoona, PA/Altoona) was named the Player of the Week in women's volleyball by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference on Monday.

Bumbarger continued to rack up set assists in the AMCC tournament as she has all season, averaging 10.75 set assists per game and adding 2.5 digs per game to help the Lady Lions win their second-ever AMCC title in women's volleyball.

This is Bumbarger's second conference Player of the Week award this season.

ALTOONA, Pa. - As the recipients of an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament with their win in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship, the Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team will face Eastern University on Friday.

The match will be played at Neumann University in Aston, Pennsylvania at 8:00 PM this Friday, November 11.

Eastern enters the first round of the regional tournament as the #4 ranked team in Division III women's volleyball, holding a 32-2 overall record. The Eagles are a member of the Freedom Conference.
